DESERT HARVESTERS ANNOUNCES SPRING/SUMMER HARVESTING EVENTS:
MESQUITE AND MORE!
Thanks to the financial support of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s Punch Woods Endowment Grant, you will soon be able to get a copy of Desert Harvesters’ new cookbook, “Eat Mesquite and More! A Sonoran Desert Living Cookbook!”
In 2015, we Desert Harvesters set out to build on the energies of a growing volunteer base and the voices of our community, to revise and expand our “Eat Mesquite! A Cookbook” into a more comprehensive guide to teach our community how to plant, harvest, cook, and enjoy rain-fed, wild desert foods where they live, work, and play.
For immediate release:
Plant, Harvest, Mill, and Celebrate Wild Abundance Before the Rains
Desert Harvesters is co-organizing events to plant, harvest, mill, and celebrate local wild foods in the month of June—the peak of our native bean trees’ harvest season.
Harvest, Plant, and Celebrate Native Bean Tree (including mesquite) Abundance Before the Rains—Desert Harvesters is organizing events on two dates, June 19 and 22 (the peak of our native bean trees’ harvest season) to help people dramatically enhance the quality of their harvests, what they make with them, and how to better rhyme with the Sonoran Desert’s annual cycles in a way that enhances our shared home and biome.
